A MMI inventou os dispositivos PAL. Em 1987, a empresa foi comprada pela Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), embora posteriormente a AMD tenha criado uma divisão de lógica programável, a Vantis, a qual por sua vez foi comprada pela Lattice Semiconductor.
